MedECC is happy to announce its active participation in the upcoming Tethys 2025 Annual General Assembly, to be held from June 18 to 20, 2025, in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, France. This event will celebrates 25 years of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, gathering leading scientists, policymakers, and project leaders to discuss sustainable development challenges and innovative solutions in the region.
MedECC Participation
On June 18, Joël Guiot, founder and co-coordinator of MedECC and co-president of GREC-SUD, will deliver a keynote conference, highlighting the pivotal role of euro-mediterranean scientific and expert cooperation to face the challenges of climate change and environmental sustainability in the Mediterranean at the regional and local levels.
On June 19, Kasia Marini, Lead Science Officer at the MedECC Secretariat, will represent MedECC at the Project Pavilion during the seminar “Diverse Perspectives on the Sustainable Mediterranean City: Innovations and Synergies” in Aix-en-Provence. This day, organised around the theme of “Sustainable Mediterranean City: Innovations and Synergies”, aims to aims to share best practices and future prospects for cooperation in higher education and research in the Mediterranean. It will bring together students, teacher-researchers, partners and institutional players to discuss the challenges of environmental transition in the Mediterranean, with an interdisciplinary approach (training, research, public policy and territorial innovation).

The full Tethys 2025 Program includes a series of panel discussions addressing the environmental transition and sustainable urban development in the Mediterranean basin. The event also features a cultural visit to the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (Mucem) in Marseille on June 20. Most sessions will be held in French, with simultaneous English interpretation available for selected parts of the program.
