Marie-Yasmine Dechraoui Bottein is a professor at Université Côte d’Azur in Nice, France, with the ECOSEAS lab. She has extensive experience in research, capacity building, and knowledge transfer, focusing on harmful algal blooms, biotoxins, and marine science. Her career includes 11 years at NOAA in the USA and 7 years at the IAEA in Monaco. She provides expertise to the FAO, IOC-UNESCO, and the French Agency for Food, Environmental, and Occupational Health & Safety. Her current research on ciguatoxins and palytoxins uses a One Health approach to protect marine environments, resources, and human health, supporting the UN SDGs.
