Carlos Borrego is Emeritus Full Professor of Environmental Engineering, at the Department of Environment and Planning (DAO), University of Aveiro (UA), Portugal. He was Minister for Environment and Natural Resources, Vice-Rector for Research and Cooperation with the Society, Director of DAO and founding Director of the Institute for Environment and Planning (IDAD), the interface unit of UA for Cooperation with the Society, providing R&I and services to organizations on air pollution, impact assessment and environmental monitoring and sustainable development, towards the circular economy with a systemic view, in line with the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
