Newsletter no.12

MedECC
Dear Colleagues !
It has been a while since we sent out the MedECC newsletter. It is a great pleasure for us to get back to you with the news of the MedECC. The most prominent news of the last months is that the MedECC contributed to the Mediterranean Pavilion at the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2022, COP27, in Egypt (6-18 November 2022). MedECC organised two side-events and MedECC's members took part in partners' events. In this context several media releases have been published.

As for the everyday activities, MedECC continues its intensive work on the preparation of three Special Reports on:
- climate and environmental coastal risks,
- climate-food-water-energy-ecosystems nexus,
- environmental change, conflict and human migration.
The publication of these reports is planned at the end of 2023. The MedECC Coordinating Lead Authors meeting was held in Barcelona (Spain) in June 2022.

The Summary for Policymakers (SPM) of the First Mediterranean Assessment Report (MAR1) is now available in eight languages. It has recently been translated to German.

MedECC Coordinators: Wolfgang Cramer, Fatima Driouech and Joël Guiot
MedECC Science Officers: Kasia Marini and Julie Gattacceca
